July 2017 Feature - Canada's Best Sex Toys and More (Part One)

July 2017 Feature - Canada's Best Sex Toys and More (Part One)

This month we decided to shine a spotlight on Canadian companies whose world-class products are part of the LSOP catalogue. In the interest of keeping this post a reasonable length, it has been broken up into two parts, with the second to follow next week. Many of the brands and items featured are available in our online store, and all of them are available at our brick and mortar locations.

This month we decided to shine a spotlight on Canadian companies whose world-class products are part of the LSOP catalog. In the interest of keeping this post a reasonable length, it has been broken up into two parts, with the second to follow next week. Many of the brands and items featured are available in our online store, and all of them are available at our brick and mortar locations.

And now, in alphabetical order:

BadAss Canes

This small company based out of Edmonton, Alberta is a beloved fixture of Alberta Society for Kink's biannual Kinky Flea Market, where they proudly display a sign that reads, "Nothin' Fancy, just BadAss Canes!" Their products are simple and far from flashy- in fact, if the BadAss Cane's display were magically transported to a farmers market, you might walk past the barrels full of rattan canes without noticing that they aren't meant for supporting your delphiniums. But these impressive impact tools weren't made for show- they are designed for delicious, devious function.

All pieces are made by BadAss Canes' owner, who uses the moniker Trail Master. An artisan and member of Western Canada's BDSM community for 35 years, he worked hard to source rattan and hardwoods that stood up to his fastidious standards of quality. The result are canes with smooth, straight shafts and comfort-grip handles that will stand up to even the most serious play. The BadAss Canes collection includes natural wood, acrylic, and delrin pieces, with designs that vary in shape, length, weight, thickness, and flexibility to meet the needs of any caning enthusiast.

Blackfoot & Dover

Formerly known as Skinless McLean's, this company is the baby of a Calgary-based artist who describes himself as a "guerrilla toy builder". He creates his skilfully crafted whips and floggers with a heavy emphasis on experimentation and affordability. Using high quality paracord, leather, hardware, and occasionally one-of-a-kind finishing touches like ornate antique medals or vintage buttons, Blackfoot & Dover produces thoughtfully designed pieces that are visually striking and designed to play hard.

"[The] toys are designed in the spirit of exploration, both for those looking to sample and expand their tastes or add to an already formidable arsenal."

In order to create gear that will withstand the heaviest kinds of play, B&D's offerings are constructed of hand-selected materials and individually strength tested for quality assurance. This process yields highly durable products, like ornately woven bullwhips that can be cracked a hundred times without unravelling or fraying. The affordable price point also make these locally made pieces a perfect entry point for beginners who don't want to break the bank figuring out what they like. As this passion project is (as of yet) a part-time venture, shipments are limited and exclusive to Little Shop of Pleasures. Although the Blackfoot & Dover collection has not yet made it to our online store, come check out these awesome products at either LSOP location.

Bound 2 Please

Over a decade ago, the founder of this Vancouver Island-based company saw a need for higher quality BDSM gear in their community, and decided to learn how to make their own. Their creations soon grabbed the attention of friends and community members, and from humble beginnings, Bound 2 Please built a brand with a reputation for creating products that are as stunningly beautiful as they are well-made. It was this reputation that earned them the honour of equipping the lavish dungeon depicted in the Hollywood blockbuster, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Bound 2 Please BDSM gear is truly fit for a billionaire, with each impeccable piece made with care and attention to detail that is apparent when you hold the finished product in hand. With hand-turned hardwood handles and thick bundles of brilliantly dyed falls, their floggers feel as luxurious as they look. Beyond the aesthetic appeal, considerate designs, like their 'sewn not riveted' cuffs and the sexy, functional, ridiculously comfy Ultimate Strap-On Harness show a understanding of their customers' needs that can only come from years of experience in the scene.

Coquette

Founded in Canada in 1979, this family business began when Catherine and Peter Horea decided to use their single sewing machine to create a line of crotch less underwear in their one bedroom apartment. They began to sell their panties to stores in neighboring Ontario towns, and the rest is history. Coquette grew into Coquette International, the largest manufacturer of lingerie in Canada serving 64 countries worldwide. Their catalog also grew, from crotch less panties to a brand with 7 different collections and hundreds of styles, all designed in house by an all-women design team.

Coquette lingerie is classic, timeless, and classy. Their extensive collection of lines and styles includes everything from hosiery to corsets, negligee to costumes, and everything in between. We love them because their lingerie is well made, cost effective, and run sizes small to 4X to fit and flatter bodies of all shapes and sizes.

Fagioni

Nearly fifty years ago, the fashion and intimate apparel company Fagioni Inc. followed it's founder from Italy to Canada, opening its doors in Osgoode, a small township just outside of Ottawa in 1968. Since then, the small, family-owned-and-operated business has grown formidably to house multiple lines that include lingerie, negligee, sleepwear, club wear, men's wear, and fashion apparel. The company's founder/owner leads the creative and design elements of the business to this day, creating original pieces with the trend-setting style; and attention to quality for which the Italian fashion industry is known.

From edgy, curve-hugging dresses in eye-catching materials, to timelessly classic and finely-made garterbelts, Fagioni's Italian/Canadian designs are store and customer favourites.

Try on Fagioni styles at either LSOP location, and keep your eyes out for the latest fall 2017 designs!

The Fenis

In May, we featured The Fenis, a then-new addition to our store. This Halifax, Nova Scotia-based company was launched in 2010 when creator Ryan Hale brought his attention-grabbing new product on CBC's Dragon's Den. Hale's fresh approach to the STP, or stand to pee device, employed body-safe silicone, a game changing redesign that allowed the flexible Fenis to be held more securely and comfortably against the user's body. All Fenises are hand-poured on-site, and are available in a range of colours that include realistic skin tones in a variety of shades.

Recently we have added to our inventory the Mr. Fenis, which has a more representational, penis-shaped shaft than the original. We're super excited to have more and more diverse products to offer our transgender customers, and we are especially excited that this considerate, safe, and quality gender expression gear is coming from Canada.

Check out The Fenis website for more information on this up and coming Canadian company (and for a full selection of EVERY COLOUR OF FENIS EVER, LIKE WAY MORE THAN WE COULD FIT IN OUR STORES), shop Fenis in our online store, and check out the new Mr. Fenis at both stores.

That's it for part 1! Check out Part 2, which features Fagioni, Fuck Water, Gregg Homme, Haven Kink, Leatherbeaten, Sinvention, Noir Luna, and We-Vibe, here.
