The 5 Love Languages
In this New York Times Best Seller, author and relationship counsellor Gary Chapman details his theory of the five "love languages", which he describes as the five main methods through which people give and receive affection. He postulates that many of the common issues that plague romantic relationships are the result of one or both of the participants failing to communicate effectively through their and their partner's primary love languages.
The 5 Love Languages, which Chapman suggests are 'words of affirmation', 'acts of service', 'gifts', 'quality time', and 'physical touch', have since been applied in his ongoing works on the management of nearly all types of relationships, including parent/child and professional. This book not only describes the theory, but helps readers to determine their and their partner's love languages, and teaches how this knowledge can be put into motion to improve communication and understanding in their relationship.
The 5 Love Languages is a favourite of Little Shop owners Chris & Don, and is often referenced in their intimacy workshops.
